Thincuse technology makes gold accessible

Gold is not only valuable, rare, and beautiful, but also exceptionally malleable. Although it sounds unbelievable, a single troy ounce can be hammered into a sheet with an area of 10 square metres. We haven’t gone quite that far at the Czech Mint, but we have nevertheless pushed the boundaries of coinage once again.
We have struck a coin from 999.9/1000 fine gold weighing a mere 1/200 of a troy ounce – that is 0.156 grams. Even with such a low weight, we managed to achieve a remarkable diameter of 16 millimetres, making the coin exceptionally thin. At first glance, however, it captivates with its striking relief, dominated by the Czech lion – the traditional heraldic beast of the Czech Republic, made famous worldwide not only by the deeds of Czech kings but also by the Czech Mint’s popular bullion coins.
