Stack s Bowers Galleries Offers Rare Chinese Coins Graded by NGC and Banknotes Graded by PMG
June 10, 2026
Impressive Chinese numismatic rarities are among hundreds of coins certified by NGC® and banknotes certified by PMG® that are being offered in a series of auction sessions presented by Stack s Bowers Galleries this month. The sessions include Session A and Session B, which are focused on paper money and conclude on June 22, 2026, and Session 2, which is focused on coins and concludes June 24.
With an estimate of $100,000 to $200,000, the top NGC-certified lot is a China (1916) Gold Dollar - Hung Hsien graded NGC MS 61 (Session 2, lot 41057). These were struck for the brief period in late 1915 and early 1916 when President Yuan Shih-kai attempted to re-establish imperial rule in China as Emperor Hung Hsien. The coin s submitter tells NGC she inherited it from her father s estate about a decade ago and finally brought it to a coin show recently in order to ask that NGC authenticate and grade it.
