St. James s Offers NGC-certified English Gold and Silver Rarities

English gold and silver rarities spanning several centuries and certified by NGC® are being offered in an upcoming auction. Bidding is already underway for St. James s Auctions Auction 123: The Richard Prince Collection, which concludes on June 10, 2026.
The top lot in the auction is a Great Britain 1816 Shilling - Gold Off-metal Strike graded NGC MS 63 and pedigreed to Montagu and Farouk (lot 74), with an estimate of £90,000 to £100,000 (about $120,000 to $133,000). Dating to near the end of the long reign of King George III, this coin was struck in gold instead of the expected silver. It is pedigreed to King Farouk of Egypt, who, in the mid-19th century, assembled one of the greatest coin collections the world has ever known.
