Redefining Numismatic Success with the PCGS Set Registry

Many coin collectors are completionists – their aim when building a set of coins is to complete that set. And many of these completionist coin collectors can usually reel off, like rote, the beginning and end dates for their series (singular or plural) of choice. A random Morgan Dollar collector will usually be able to quote the date of the first issue (1878), year of the last (1921), and can generally share some facts about the many keys, scarce dates, and other notables – like the plethora of varieties generally categorized as VAMs.
But what if the rules on the Morgan Dollar were rewritten? What if instead of collecting Morgan Dollars just one way – a basic date run of circulation-strike issues – what if there were, say, four dozen or more different ways to build a complete set of Morgan Dollars?
