Dick Advocaat and Juninho Bacuna strike first The Blue Wave coin for Curaçao World Cup qualification

Today, former Curaçao national team coach Dick Advocaat and midfielder Juninho Bacuna struck the first Caribbean 5 Guilder commemorative coin for "The Blue Wave", in honor of the historic World Cup qualification of the Curaçao national football team. The coin is an official issue by the Royal Dutch Mint, minted on behalf of the Central Bank of Curaçao and St. Maarten. The silver coin features a special color element linked to The Blue Wave and is available immediately at www.royaldutchmint.com.
On November 18, 2025, Curaçao achieved an unprecedented feat: for the first time in history, the country qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. As the smallest country ever on the world stage, ‘The Blue Wave’ managed to secure a place among the global football elite under his leadership. The island turned blue in the run-up to the important qualifying match.
